M. Dinora Smith is a hands-on trial attorney whose practice focuses on the defense of complex civil litigation matters in federal and state courts. Ms. Smith defends claims of personal injury and death resulting from allegedly defective design, defective manufacture, and/or failure to warn for automobile manufacturers, as well as a variety of personal injury matters.

Ms. Smith has defended insured and self-insured companies in product liability, premises liability, construction liability, and professional liability matters. In her early days of practice, Ms. Smith represented plaintiffs in employment discrimination matters in Manhattan. Ms. Smith’s defense strategy focuses on creative ways to develop cases and identify pathways for early resolution or dismissal, including tendering defense, removal to federal court, and moving for dismissal based upon lack of personal jurisdiction or improper venue. Ms. Smith has extensive motion practice experience, successfully raising and opposing motions in state, federal, and appellate proceedings.

Ms. Smith graduated from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2017, where she served as Articles Editor of Cardozo’s Arts & Entertainment Law Journal. She graduated from University of St Andrews with a Master of Arts (Honours) in Philosophy and Social Anthropology in 2014.
