Tom Hinchey and Kate Wang co-authored an amicus curiae brief on behalf Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel (PADC) in support of the appellant in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court appeal of Hangey v. Husqvarna Professional Products, Inc.  The appellant, Husqvarna, challenges the Superior Court decision that a national manufacturer “regularly conducts business” in Philadelphia County for purposes of Pennsylvania’s corporate venue statute, when only .005 percent of its total sales occur in the forum county.  If successful, the appeal will reinforce the recent trend of the U.S. and Pennsylvania Supreme Courts in imposing limitations on forum shopping against national corporations.  Both Tom and Kate are actively engaged in PADC and closely follow the organization’s amicus efforts.
