Campbell Campbell Edwards & Conroy, P.C. Attorney Sahar Basaria Featured Speaker at Boston College Law School’s “Celebrating 50 Years of Clinical Education” Event

November 2018

On Friday, November 2, 2018, Campbell Campbell Edwards & Conroy, P.C. Attorney Sahar Basaria was one of six speakers at Boston College Law School’s “Celebrating 50 Years of Clinical Education” event during its 2018 Reunion Weekend.  Sahar was chosen from among her peers to present about her experience in the BC Law clinic with a client who she represented in a housing matter. Sahar successfully negotiated a settlement for her client, keeping her from being evicted and from being responsible for $11,000 of back rent that went unpaid by her abusive husband.  The negotiated terms of the settlement allowed her client sufficient time to stay in the apartment while locating a new residence, and Sahar worked with her client’s social work team to represent her in two agency hearings seeking emergency case status to be placed into public housing—one before the Somerville Housing Authority and one before the Department of Housing and Community Development.

Sahar was joined by Judge William Orrick, Jay Sicklick, Julie Dahlstrom, Steve Van Dyke, and Melina Munoz, who each presented anecdotes regarding their own involvement in the clinic.  BC Law has posted an article about the event at: http://lawmagazine.bc.edu/2018/11/celebrating-clinical-educations-50th/
